Ready, set, go! Check out the set list for Keeneland’s Spring Meet Stakes. Nineteen thoroughbred stake races are scheduled this month at Keeneland in Lexington, KY. We are just one month away from the 147th Kentucky Derby! Only six preps remain. All these preps will be raced in the next ten days, to shape the final ranking of the leaderboard. Two of these last preps will be held at Keeneland race course! Time spent at the track is always a great pleasure. It is pure joy to ride on The Road, especially when it is at Keeneland. In Kentucky, The Bluegrass State, the Battle of the Bluegrass is a title that is used to describe many competitive activities and sport events. This weekend, in The Horse Capitol of the World, The Battle of the Blue Grass is reserved for an important graded stakes race on The Road to the Kentucky Derby. The long overdue, 96th edition of the Blue Grass Stakes will race this Saturday!

It has been way too long since I last saw Keeneland or a live Thoroughbred horse race. As the COVID-19 pandemic swept the world, Keeneland shuttered their grounds to visitors and cancelled their epic Spring Meet. In a splendid effort to keep fine racing alive Keeneland was able to put together their first ever Summer Meet. To continue to take the highest precautions for safety, the races are spectator free. Fortunately, with careful planning, we can now enjoy Keeneland’s Summer Meet, #KeenelandatHome!

Happy Friday the 13th! I am tickled to think of all the peculiar betting habits and quirks I will see among the superstitious gamblers and horsemen at Keeneland today! Everyday is a good day at the track but tomorrow we will see the very last lap on the Road to the Kentucky Derby. Saturday, 4/14/18 features the final two prep races, the Lexington Stakes and the Arkansas Derby.

Good morning racing fans! It is an especially early morning for those of you switching to daylight saving time, like myself. I consider it another sign of spring, which I welcome with open arms. I am ready for longer evenings, warmer weather, Saint Patrick’s Day and just a dozen more prep races until the Kentucky Derby. Everything is coming up roses!
Go baby go! The action is back on the track in the heart of the Horse Capital of the World. Keeneland’s Spring meet kicks off today, April 7, 2017, with race 1 posting at 1:05 P.M. EDT. Going for a strong start, Blue Grass Weekend includes 7 graded stakes races with a collective purse of $2.55 million in purse money.
